UAE Announces National Day Holiday Dates For Public And Private Sector

All public sector departments will remain closed from December 2 to December 7 as per directives by the UAE president.

The UAE has announced a five-day holiday for all public sector workers on the occasion of the country’s 43rd National Day.

All ministries and federal departments in the country will remain closed from Tuesday, December 2 to Thursday, December 4, 2014, state news agency WAM reported.

Work will resume on Sunday, December 7, 2014, the agency said citing a statement from Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources.

Meanwhile, the ministry said that the private sector will be granted just a day off to mark the occassion. All private sector firms will remain closed on December 2, 2014 and work will resume on December 3, 2014, UAE’s Minister of Labour Saqr bin Ghobash said.

The move is part of directives issued by the UAE’s president and the prime minister, WAM said.

“On this occasion, we extend congratulations to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Supreme Council Members, Their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates, wishing them good health,” said Al Hammadi.
