The UAE’s Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) took to Twitter on Wednesday to confirm that the Hijri New Year holiday for federal government employees will be observed on Thursday, August 12.

“Hijri New Year Holiday – carried over – for the year 1443 in the Federal Government will be on Thursday, August 12,” the FAHR said in a tweet.

This would give its employees a three-day weekend.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation also said that Thursday, August 12, will be a paid leave for employees across the private sector.

The upcoming holiday would mark the second extended weekend of holidays for employees in the country, as the Eid Al Adha break last month were observed from Monday, July 19 until Thursday, July 22, leading into the weekend.
