Le Meridien Abu Dhabi has confirmed that two of its restaurants including Wakataua (beach lounge and terrace) and Talay, a Southeast Asian restaurant, are shutting down on Thursday, May 25.

The hotel initially indicated that Greek restaurant Acropolis would also be closing down, but later clarified that it “shall remain open until further notice”.

“The restaurant will be closed during Ramadan and will open for dinner from 7pm-11pm from the 1st day of Eid,” a statement said.

New food and beverage outlets will soon replace those shutting down at The Village at Le Meridien Abu Dhabi, it added.

No specific reason was given for the closure of the restaurants.

Max Venturelli, complex director of Operations for Le Meridien Abu Dhabi and Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel and Resort said: “It is slightly heartbreaking to see these restaurants close their doors for the last time on Thursday May 25th, yet we are confident that our valued guests and loyal patrons will welcome the new and exciting food and beverage venues at The Village at Le Meridien Abu Dhabi due to open later in the year.”

Other F&B outlets at the hotel, which opened in 1979, include Latest recipe – an all-day dining restaurant; Italian restaurant Papagallo; Al Finjan – the lobby lounge; English pub Captain’s Arms; Oasis poolside bar; and the NRG Sports Cafe.
