Thousands join Bollywood’s Shilpa Shetty at XYoga Dubai

More than 9,000 people joined Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty on at the mat for the XYoga festival in Dubai on Friday.

The health and fitness event organised by the Dubai Tourism & Commerce Marketing and XDubai started at Burj Park, Downtown Dubai with the actress demonstrating her moves with well-known Indian yogi Suneel Singh.

Her appearance marked one of several high-profile names to lead sessions, including Tao Porchon-Lynch, who is certified by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest yoga teacher at 97 years old,

The two-day festival also featured interactive events and live music sets from Capoeira, Ravan and Sadie Nardini as well as food stalls with a focus on healthy eating, raw cooking, yoga apparel and accessories stalls and a children’s play area.

Festival Director Javad Khoramifar said: “XYoga Dubai is not just about creating a festival; it’s about creating a wellness movement and tapping into the positive energy of Dubai and the many people that make up its unique tapestry.

“Health and happiness go hand in hand and that’s what we wanted to show. After a sold out inaugural event, certainly we expect XYoga Dubai to continue to grow in an ever more health aware society and hope that it brings in people from abroad who also wants share in the experience here in Dubai.”
