Home Technology Gadgets The $15 Million iPhone A businessman from Hong Kong has commissioned the bejewelled device. by Guido Duken April 18, 2013 “Joe”, a businessman from Hong Kong, commissioned British designer Stuart Hughes to create an incredibly expensive iPhone 5 valued at $15 million. Hughes had set a record in 2011 for crafting an iPhone 4S with 500 individual diamonds totalling more than 100 carats. That handset was valued at $9 million. Joe wanted to use an extremely valuable 26-carat Black diamond, which has been in his family for generations, as the crowning glory of his customised iPhone 5. The massive black diamond was used as the home button of the smartphone. But that wasn’t the only gemstone used. The handset has “600 white flawless diamonds with full gold dressing for the rear section with the logo in solid gold with 53 flawless diamonds” states Hughes’ website. It continues, “This masterpiece boasts 135 grams of 24 carat gold and, of course, sapphire glass set in the screen.” Of course! How long will it be before somebody in Dubai sets his sights on this record? 0 Comments
