Take a look: e& unveils recycled ‘green’ SIM cards

Telecoms operator e& has unveiled its eco-friendly, recycled SIM cards which will be available during the COP28 summit in Dubai later this month.

Mobile network operator e& has lifted the lid on its eco-friendly, recycled SIM cards which will be available for its UAE customers during the COP28 summit in Dubai later this month.

Created from recycled consumer electronics, the new SIM cards are said to have a lower carbon footprint. 

More than 500,000 Green SIM Cards have been procured and will also be available to visitors and attendees arriving in the UAE for the COP28 event, which is happening from 30 November to 12 December.

e& unveils its new, green SIM cards.

“As a leader in the technology space, we want to contribute to the global climate efforts by implementing eco-friendly solutions and cooperating with our stakeholders,” says Obaid Bokisha, Group Chief Operating Officer of e&.

“In doing so, we also want to inspire and collaborate with other businesses globally to invest in green technologies,” he added.

e& says it’s looking to achieve its net-zero targets in the UAE by 2030. As part of its measures thus far, the company has also already deployed energy-efficient wireless equipment at its mobile network sites, leading to a 52 per cent reduction in energy consumption.
