QatarEnergy has finalised a number of charter contracts with several Asian ship owners to bolster its shipping fleet by 19 LNG vessels
Under the 15-year time-charter party agreements, Nakilat will charter out the vessels to affiliates of QatarEnergy, facilitating the seamless transportation of LNG to key destinations worldwide
The Gulf state plans an 85 per cent expansion in LNG output from its North Field’s current 77 million metric tons per year to 142 mtpa by 2030
The expansion may not be the last for Qatar as appraisals of the Gulf state’s gas reservoirs would continue and production might be expanded further
The deal, signed at the China International Import Expo in Shanghai, is the third long-term supply deal between the two entities

The LNG will be sourced from two joint ventures between both entities that hold interests in Qatar’s North Field projects
ConocoPhillips will take a 6.25 per cent stake in the project, out of a 25 per cent interest available for international partners
Siraj Energy was established to finance, build, operate and maintain solar power facilities
These plants are to be built in Mesaieed Industrial City and Ras Laffan Industrial City
