The Abu Dhabi-based firm said in a statement that a new subsidiary, Tadweer Environmental Services and Solutions, will handle public waste collection activities while another, Tajmee’e, would focus on pre-collection and collection activities. Tadweer said another unit, UpCycle, will integrate innovative technologies in the group’s waste treatment and recycling centres, while Tahweel would accelerate waste conversion technology and investment into the group’s portfolio. The waste management firm said each unit will promote the use of innovative technologies and enhance value creation while supporting the group’s vision of diverting 80 per cent of waste from landfills by the end of the decade. The launch of four subsidiaries follows the group’s acquisition of e-waste innovator Enviroserve in May. Founded in 2004, Enviroserve’s facility recycles waste from electrical and electronic equipment generated in the region and is an end-to-end partner for all types of waste. Tadweer is also building Abu Dhabi’s dedicated facility for recovering and capturing valuable recyclable materials from waste. The facility, which has an annual capacity of 1.3 million metric tonnes, will recover recyclable materials derived from municipal solid waste. Earlier this year, Tadweer and Emirates Water and Electricity Company signed a concession agreement with a Japanese consortium to develop a greenfield waste-to-energy facility in Abu Dhabi.
