He was accompanied by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE. Sheikh Mohammed was given a tour of the national carrier’s ongoing cabin refurbishment programme. A380 retrofit at Emirates Engineering Centre Emirates currently employs over 5,500 people in various roles in its engineering division with UAE nationals compirsing up to 60 per cent of the workforce while female talent comprises nearly 20 per cent. The 400,000-square-metre engineering centre is spread over 12 hangars and is one of the largest such facilities in the Middle East. Over two years, the programme aims to retrofit the interiors of 120 aircraft.
