Home Industry Economy Sharjah to reopen cinemas, pools, entertainment centres and fitness facilities Several economic and tourism activities in Sharjah are allowed to reopen at 50 per cent capacity on June 24 by Aarti Nagraj June 22, 2020 Cinemas, swimming pools and entertainment centres are among economic and tourism activities in Sharjah allowed to reopen at 50 per cent capacity on June 24, provided they follow the necessary safety guidelines, officials have said. The reopening also extends to private beaches, fitness clubs, children’s game rental facilities, auction houses, valet services, water bike rental facilities and sports facilities, officials said. Certain museums, education institutes and training centres will also reopen. The decision was announced following a meeting of the Sharjah Emergency and Crisis management team to discuss the emirate’s preparations to reopen government and economic sectors. As apart of the reopening, guidelines including temperature checks, face masks, providing sanitisers and ensuring physical distancing of 2 metres will have to be followed, officials said. However, some services will continue to be halted, including massages, saunas and distribution of newspapers. Earlier this month, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) reopened its hospitality, ecotourism and leisure destinations at 30 per cent capacity. Al Qasba, Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Noor Island, The Flag Island, Heart of Sharjah, Mleiha Archaeological and Ecotourism Project, Al Montazah Parks and other hospitality destinations reopened with strict precautionary protocols. All destinations were provided thermal scanners at entrances, and all visitors were mandated to wear masks and gloves. On Sunday, Dubai also announced that tourists will be allowed to visit the emirate starting July 7.
