Saudi Arabia to see rain, thunderstorms on first Ramadan weekend

Various parts of Saudi Arabia will see rain and thunderstorm over the coming days, reported state news agency SPA.

The General Directorate of Civil Defense advised people to avoid areas susceptible to flooding, not to swim in open water, and to follow advice and instructions issued by officials through media channels.

Makkah, Madinah to receive rain

With further rain and thunderstorms forecast for most parts of Saudi Arabia until Sunday, authorities are urging the public to take extra care when out and about.

Forecasts suggest the regions of Asir, Jazan, Qassim, the Eastern Province, Madinah, Hail, and the Northern Borders will be affected by moderate-to-heavy rain, with the possibility of torrential rain, hail and fast-descending winds that stir up dirt and dust, the SPA reported on Tuesday.

The regions of Taif, Adham, Maysan, Al-Ardiyat, Al-Baha, Tabuk, and Madinah will also see similar weather conditions.

Makkah region can expect moderate rainfall and active, downward winds that raise dust.

Light-to-moderate rain is expected in parts of Riyadh region, including the capital, Diriyah, Al-Muzahmiyah, Al-Hareeq, Al-Kharj, Hotat Bani Tamim, Al-Majma’ah, Thadig, Marrat, Darma, Al-Ghat, Al-Zulfi, Shaqraa, Huraymila and Rumah.


Similar conditions are forecast in Al-Jawf and some areas of the Eastern Province.
