Taxi bookings made through Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) exceeded the 12 million mark in 2018, jumping by 17 per cent in comparison to 2017.

According to the UAE’s state news agency WAM, the official number of bookings made through the Booking and Dispatch Centre of RTA’s Public Transport Agency was 12,367,866 – far outdoing the previous year’s total of 10,573,855.

The data from 2018 also shows that the average time taken to respond to incoming calls at the Booking and Dispatch Centre was five seconds, beating the 11.2 seconds recorded in 2017.

Mohammed Nabham, director of passenger transport activities monitoring at the Public Transport Agency, said: “The average time taken to dispatch taxis to clients last year clocked 11.35 minutes. The centre has carried out benchmarking with Singapore and Western Australia to work out the rate of successful bookings made within 10 minute; which amounted to 62 per cent last year.

“The centre aims to improve the number of bookings handled and meet customer needs as quickly as possible.”

WAM added that the customer satisfaction rating achieved by the Booking and Dispatch Centre, carried out through a self-rating system, rose to 82.6 per cent last year, up 2.2 per cent from 80.4 per cent in 2017.
