Abu Dhabi-headquartered hotel management company Rotana has signed agreements with Memar Development and Investment for five new properties in Saudi Arabia.

These include four under its Edge by Rotana brand which was launched last year and one Rayhaan by Rotana property, all of which will be located in Riyadh. The five new properties will add 618 keys to Rotana’s portfolio.

Rotana aims to triple the number of rooms it currently operates in the kingdom to 6,000 over the next four years.

The new Edge by Rotana properties will be interconnected. The properties will offer guests a range of dining options as well as recreational facilities such as pools, gyms, and treatments rooms, among others.

The agreement was signed at the Future Hospitality Summit (FHS) 2023 held in Riyadh earlier this week.

“Saudi Arabia presents one of the fastest-growing markets in the region, increasingly establishing itself as a leading tourist destination. These new properties located in the heart of Riyadh include a mix of hotels and serviced apartments, offering our guests diverse options to suit their varying needs,” said Guy Hutchinson, president and CEO of Rotana.

Rotana is currently targeting 30 Edge by Rotana properties to open across the region by 2027. Currently, there are three operational Edge by Rotana-managed hotels located in the UAE – Arabian Park, Park Apartments and Damac Hills 2.

Rotana currently operates 73 hotels in the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe and Türkiye. It reportedly has 10,012 keys across 36 hotels in the UAE alone.

The group aims to reach 120 operating hotels overall spanning across 28,000 keys by 2030.

Also, Rotana recently announced plans to open its first properties in the UK, with the development of up to 1,500 keys under the Centro brand in greater London.

The first two hotels are confirmed for New Malden and Kingston, with the 70-apartment Centro New Malden set to open this year across from the town’s rail station, followed by the 31-apartment new-build Centro Kingston on the north edge of Coombe Road in 2024.
