Emirates has once again been named the most popular brand in the Middle East and the UAE, according to a new YouGov survey.
YouGov’s annual BrandIndex surveyed opinions about brands from consumers in 29 countries.
WhatsApp and YouTube continued to rank high throughout the Middle East, although Apple suffered a drop across the region.
In the UAE specifically, while Emirates led for the third year in a row, WhatsApp ranked second. Google was third, while in fourth was the supermarket chain Carrefour. Rounding out the top five was Google.
In Saudi Arabia, the top five were fast food chain Al Baik, Almarai, YouTube, WhatsApp and Google.
Tech companies dominated the rankings in Egypt. Egypt’s top five were Google, WhatsApp, YouTube, Galaxy and Facebook.
Globally, technology led the way. The most popular brand worldwide was Google, followed by WhatsApp, YouTube, Samsung and Facebook.
For 2019, Swedish furniture chain IKEA and Nike were the only non-tech brands to crack the global top 10.
