Home UAE Dubai Restaurant Reviews: Basko’s Summer Brunch in Dubai The venue boasts a colorful chic interior, retro tunes, distinctly curated beverages and a delicious menu by Andrew Wingrove July 30, 2022 If you are still trying to escape the weekend heat and fancy a retro-style brunch, I highly recommend Basko’s Summer Brunch. Situated at the front of the Opus Tower in Business Bay, the venue boasts a colorful chic interior, distinctly curated beverages and a delicious menu. The four-hour weekend brunch brings nostalgia, vibrancy, design and culinary craft to Dubai. The award-winning head chef Youssef Akiki, has designed a modern classic menu that brings touches of France, Italy, and Spain to the table. The sonic seasoning comes through the elevated retro vibe with a music program that twists nostalgic hits with modern warmth. The minimalist Mediterranean restaurant has splashes of deep red and blue retro artwork pattern, adorning the venue, menu and uniforms. Added to that, the DJ has an endless list of retro tunes to entertain the crowd, whilst allowing you to still hear what your fellow table guests are saying. Getting to the food, Basko’s menu begins with the crispy tuna tartine and shrimp carpaccio. Moving on, we experienced the melting flavours of the creamy saffron cecina spaghetti. Each dish tantalised our tastebuds and pleased our palate. My friend who went for the grilled sea bass option served with citrus sauce, braised carrots and broccoli claimed it was the best fish he had eaten all year. The drinks selection is impressive and varied, and a whole host of cocktails are free-flowing alongside the standard spirits and wine. While revelers enjoy a spitz me up, or well-balanced beverage selection, the delightful rose cookie or tempting Saint Honoré rounds off the epicurean experience at the brunch. It didn’t just end there. After 4pm, we moved upstairs for an after-brunch party to La Suite at Suave. We ascended the chandelier-inspired staircase and entered a VIP room full of vintage records displayed within the walls. With a DJ on decks and La Suite at Suave open for the final two hours, you won’t want to leave this retro paradise. The exceptional standard of food, drinks and service makes it perfect for the summer soiree.
