The UAE has announced reduced working hours for all federal government employees during Ramadan 2021.

In a circular issued on Thursday, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources said that these employees will only need to work from 9am-2pm, except for those whose nature of their work requires them to work outside of these hours.

Although the work timings for private sector employees during Ramadan this year have not yet been announced, it is expected to broadly mirror those of the public sector.

Among the many precautionary measures issued to ensure that the Covid-19 infection does not spread in the country during Ramadan, the UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority have been advised against evening gatherings between different households during Ramadan.

The NCEMA said that it is not allowed to create family or institutional Iftar tents, share meals in public places or provide and distribute Iftar meals in front of homes and mosques.

Those interested in doing so, must coordinate with charities, with donations and zakat done electronically.
