The airline will operate a daily service from Gatwick to Doha using its Boeing 787 Dreamliner featuring 22 seats in Business Class and 232 seats in Economy Class. The resumption of the London Gatwick service complements recently launched flights to Doha from Gatwick by Qatar Airways’ Joint Business partner British Airways. Customers flying to and from London Gatwick will be able to avail of two options daily – one on Qatar Airways, and the other being a British Airways flight. Both airlines can now jointly offer options between London and Doha, allowing customers to earn Avios frequent flyer points when they book. UK customers will have access to four gateways including five-times daily services from London Heathrow, 18-times weekly from Manchester and four-times weekly from Edinburgh rising to daily from June 2. “This year is very special for us, not least as it is the 25th anniversary of the start of our flights to London Heathrow in March 1997. Our commitment to the UK market has been unwavering and we operated continuously and reliably throughout the pandemic, so I am pleased we can resume our popular service to London Gatwick,” said Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways group chief executive. The Doha-based airline has also revealed plans to resume services to several other global destinations. From June 25, 2022, the airline will resume flights to the Namibian capital, Windhoek, giving it 200 weekly flights to 31 gateways across Africa, in what the airline calls its “largest ever African schedule.” Meanwhile, Qatar Airways will also launch flights to Santorini, Greece, from June 7, 2022, joining Athens and Mykonos to become the third destination to be served in Greece by the national carrier. The airline will also restart its seasonal flights to Mykonos, Greece, in the same week, with four weekly flights, whereas Athens will go to a double daily service.
