By way of this programme, select Visa or Mastercard credit cardholders, including cards registered in Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay, can now have their cards linked to their Privilege Club account. It enables members to collect and spend Avios on purchases at a wide range of retail and lifestyle partners in Qatar. They can earn Avios on a number of activities including shopping, dining and other purchases made with the linked credit cards. The partners include the likes of Kulud Pharmacy, F45, and Evergreen Organics, among others. This new feature is available for Visa credit cards issued in over 70 countries where card linking is supported, as well as for Mastercard credit cards issued in countries including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Qatar, UAE, the UK, Uruguay and the US. To link purchases to the loyalty programme, users need to log in to their Privilege Club account and add their credit card details. Upon completing a transaction at a partner outlet, members can choose to collect or spend Avios through their account and can either be credited in Avios or the equivalent cashback will be credited on their linked card. “Privilege Club has seen many enhancements in the last year including the adoption of Avios as the rewards currency, and the latest Card Linked Offers announcement only continues our programme of improvement. Having introduced the ability to collect and spend Avios in our airport, we believe that introducing the new feature will further solidify the Privilege Club experience as a lifestyle,” said Qatar Airways Group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker. Earlier this year, Qatar Airways changed the rules on Avios earning allowing members of its Qatar Airways Privilege Club to spend the currency at Hamad International Airport (HIA). The move means that travellers at all departure points will be rewarded with Avios points upon check in which will be credited up to 120 minutes before the flight’s departure. The points can now also be collected and spent at almost 200 outlets at HIA in partnership with Qatar Duty Free.
