Qatar Airways will begin five-times weekly flights to Edinburgh from May 28 next year.

The new route will be served by a B787 Dreamliner in a two-cabin configuration, offering passengers 22 business and 232 economy class seats.

Qatar will fly to Edinburgh on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Flight QR 027 will depart Doha at 0800 and arrive in Edinburgh at 1315 local time. Return service QR 028 will leave Edinburgh at 1445 and land in Doha at 2340 local time.

Edinburgh will be the Qatar’s third UK destination. Currently it operates five flights daily to London Heathrow and 10 weekly to Manchester, and the new route provides additional Gulf-Scottish capacity with Emirates flying to Glasgow.

Qatar’s Doha-Edinburgh route is set to be the first scheduled B787 service from a Scottish airport. Charter carrier Thomson Airways flew the Dreamliner between Glasgow and Edinburgh during the summer.
