A Qatar Airways flight heading to Doha was forced to make an emergency landing at Istanbul’s Atatürk airport on Thursday, according to reports.
One of the engines of the Airbus 330 aircraft caught fire shortly after takeoff, CNN Turk reported. Meanwhile an airport official told Reuters that the plane’s landing gear failed to retract on take-off.
All the passengers have “safely disembarked”, Qatar Airways confirmed on Twitter.

An airport official told Turkey’s Anadolu Agency that the plane suffered a technical fault in its left engine.
The plane touched down without any further problems after the pilot received landing permission, the source added.
