All private schools across the emirate of Sharjah are to fully return to in-person education from next month, authorities have announced.

The Sharjah Private Education Authority said that physical attendance will be mandatory for pupil across private schools in the emirate from the new term starting April 2022. The directive was announced in cooperation with the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA).

The UAE has seen a continuous decline in new Covid-19 infections in recent weeks. On March 14, it announced 296 new cases and 980 recoveries.

The education regulator in the neighbouring emirate of Dubai also relieved students across education institutions from wearing a mask outdoors. Physical distancing, wearing of masks indoors and regular sanitisation continue to be in place.

NCEMA announced an ease in Covid-19 precautionary measures in the country starting February 26, 2022. As part of the directive, wearing of masks is now optional outdoors, although it continues to be mandatory in public indoor spaces.
