Home UAE Dubai Private jet movements at Dubai South up 336% in Q1 2021 It reached 4,904 in the first quarter of this year compared to 1,460 in Q1 2020 by Varun Godinho May 9, 2021 Private jets movements in Dubai South grew 336 per cent in Q1 2021, reaching 4,904 in the first quarter of this year compared to 1,460 in Q1 2020 and 1,676 in Q1 2019. The figures were announced on Saturday, May 8, by the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH) located in Dubai South. Aircraft movements include those recorded at the four FBOs (fixed-base operators) operating at MBRAH, including Jetex Executive Aviation, Jet Aviation, DC Aviation and ExecuJet Middle East. The MBRAH is a freezone for airlines, private jet companies, and associated industries. It is also home to maintenance centres and training and education campuses. “Our private jets movements at the VIP Terminal in MBRAH have been increasing steadily since last July, which is a testament to the successful national vaccination campaign, the emirate’s status as a preferred destination for tourists from across the world as well as Dubai’s ranking third globally and second in the ‘Major Cities’ category in the recent ‘FDI Global Cities of the Future 2021/2022’ report as a magnet for foreign direct investment (FDI),” said Tahnoon Saif, CEO of MBRAH. “We look forward to sustaining the momentum of aircraft movements as Dubai gears up to welcoming the world to Expo 2020 in October.” Private jets movements in 2020 grew by 21 per cent compared to 2019, driven mainly by a high number of movements in the last quarter of the year following the reopening of airports in the country. The increase in private jet movements during Q1, comes on the back of figures released earlier this year which reported a 78 per cent growth of private jets movements in Q4 2020 alone, compared to Q4 2019, in MBRAH.
