Oman’s ruler Sultan Qaboos is in a “stable” condition and is continuing medical treatment, local media reported on Tuesday.
“The Sultan is in a stable condition following a scheduled treatment programme,” the official Oman News Agency (ONA) quoted the royal court as saying.
“The Sultan thanks his people all around the world for sharing their good wishes and prayers for him.”
Sultan Qaboos, 79, travelled to Belgium early in December for treatment. Following his return to Oman, news reports swirled of his continuing poor health.
The leader has ruled Oman since 1970. He has no designated successor, with no children or brothers.
