The country’s Ministry of Labour has announced a two-day holiday on October 23 and 24 for both public and private sector employees in Dhofar Governorate and Al Jazar Wilayat in the Al Wusta Governorate. The Ministry of Education also decided to close all public and private schools in the Dhofar region on October 22 and 23. (@mwasalat_om) October 22, 2023 Oman evacuates residents of certain areas According to a report in the Oman Observer, the National Committee for Emergency Management (NCEM) decided on Sunday to evacuate people of the areas expected to get the direct impact of Tej, including Al Halaniyat Islands in Dhofar Governorate and the coastal parts of wilayats of Salalah, Rakhyut and Dhalkut. NCEM, in coordination with local authorities, has also established 32 shelters in Dhofar Governorate and three in Al Wusta Governorate. These shelters are equipped with food and water supplies and can shelter 11,000 people. The Civil Aviation Authority earlier issued an advisory urging everyone to exercise maximum caution, avoid crossing wadis, and avoid low-lying areas, and the sea during this period.
