Japanese carmaker Nissan recently showcased Ariya, its latest all-electric crossover, at the Expo 2020 Dubai.

Nissan is the official automotive partner of Expo and stated intentions of achieving carbon neutrality across its operations and the life cycle of its products by 2050.

Towards that end, it recently announced Nissan Intelligent Factory at its Tochigi Plant; as well as EV36Zero, a GBP1bn Electric Vehicle (EV) Hub in the UK with a 360-degree solution for zero-emission motoring.

The event at Expo’s Dubai Exhibition Center to showcase the Ariya was named after Nissan’s “Let’s Move” campaign. “As we remain committed to our purpose of driving innovation to enrich people’s lives, Expo 2020 Dubai is the perfect platform to showcase the Nissan Ariya, to signal what is yet to come in the future of smart and sustainable mobility. This event is a fitting start to our participation at Expo 2020 Dubai, and we are excited to bring our global expertise, technological know-how and regional knowledge to visitors, and help accelerate the shift to a safer, smarter, more sustainable and connected world,” said Joni Paiva, divisional vice president, marketing and sales, Africa, Middle East, India & Oceania, Nissan Motor Corporation.

As part of its partnership with Expo, Nissan is hosting and participating in various activations. In addition to several digital engagements on the Nissan NEXT website, it is supporting the Expo with over 600 vehicles.

“With the Ariya serving as a symbol of the next chapter in the future of mobility, Nissan will also draw attention towards its Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) technologies, including ProPILOT technology which we recently introduced in the region. The 70th anniversary of the legendary Patrol will be a welcome opportunity to celebrate Nissan’s long-standing heritage at Expo 2020 Dubai and celebrate the legacy of the iconic SUV,” said Thierry Sabbagh, managing director at Nissan Middle East.

“Serving as a comprehensive platform, Expo 2020 Dubai will allow us to utilise our global expertise in the electrification space to build and enhance the role of smart cities by engaging with multiple mobility, energy, and government stakeholders throughout the six-month event. From a sustainability perspective, Nissan is keen to highlight its carbon neutrality goals and pioneering spirit from its first EV in 1947 to the Nissan Ariya, proving its dedication to continuous improvement and serving the changing needs of drivers,” added Sabbagh.
