Kuwait can look forward to a four-day break for the New Year.
The country’s cabinet declared Sunday, December 31, 2023, and Monday, January 1, 2024, as public holidays, at a weekly meeting held on November 20. With the country enjoying its weekend on Thursday and Friday, residents will get an additional two days off.
The state-run news agency KUNA stated government bodies with a “special work nature” will have their holidays determined by their own internal management, taking into consideration the “public interest”.
Holidays in Oman and UAE
In other news, Oman recently enjoyed a four-day break with National Day holidays being declared on November 28 and 29. Residents enjoyed four days of holidays starting from November 26.
The UAE is also expecting a long weekend in December. Commemoration Day (previously known as Martyrs’ Day), is observed annually on December 1, which falls on Friday this year. UAE celebrates National Day on December 2 and 3, which falls on a Saturday and Sunday this year.
Friday, December 1, has not yet been officially declared as a public holiday in the UAE.
