A new dedicated gaming smartphone, the RedMagic 5S launches in the region in September. The RedMagic 5S boasts various specs as well as new accessories that cater to a demanding gaming community.

To counter the overheating that occurs during intensive gameplay, the Red Magic 5S features a ‘Turbo Fan ICE 4.0’ cooling system which consists of an L-shaped liquid cooling pipe, nano thermal materials and temperature sensors. A turbo fan with ventilation increased by 4.3 per cent as well as the use of silver due to its thermal conductive nature make it one of the best cooling systems in a phone yet. Also, users will also be able to purchase the ‘Ice Dock’, an accessory designed to keep the phone cool.

The device, which has up to 16GB RAM and 256GB storage, will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 with 5G chipset, ensuring faster loading of games and smoother connection speeds.

The RedMagic 5S also makes use of the latest memory technologies with USF 3.1 and LPDDR5. The UFS 3.1 ensures loading up programs and rendering visuals is fast.

The phone features a 6.65-inch Esport AMOLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate. It also has the Touch Choreographer feature that automatically adjusts the frame rate accordingly to ensure stability and smooth visuals.

The built-in triggers on the RedMagic 5S are customisable to any function needed in the games.

The Game Space feature degrades non-gaming features during play, including a chat overlay for WhatsApp that minimise it to a mini-window, macro making features, game recording, notifications blocking, and more.

The device also features a 64 megapixel Sony triple camera, a high capacity 4,500mAh battery and an 18-watt quick charger.

Mobile gaming, delivered via cloud, is booming. Research firm MarketsandMarkets estimated the cloud gaming market to be worth $306m in 2019 and has projected it will reach $3.1bn by 2024, at a CAGR of 59 per cent. The major driving factors driving this expansion are the commercialisation of 5G, the rise in the number of gamers, and the upsurge of immersive and competitive gaming on mobile. The wider availability of dedicated devices such as the RedMagic 5S will only deepen the market.
