Plans for a new OMR400m ($1.03bn) waterfront development have been unveiled in Muscat as part of Oman’s Vision 2040.

Integrated tourism complex Naseem A’Sabah will be developed by Amouage Hotels and Resorts and Malaysia’s BRDB in North Al Mawaleh Beach in Wilayat Seeb, according to Times of Oman.

The 400,000-square-metre project will comprise 1,200 residential units, five-star hotels, retail and leisure areas, restaurants and a marina with yacht club.

Amouage Hotels and Resorts Chairman Mamas Christodoulides said the project would reflect Omani culture, tradition and architecture and create jobs for citizens.

Photos on the BRDB website show water-side promenades with restaurants and fountains and villas backing onto the sea with private swimming pools.

Oman aims to more than double the number of international visitors it attracts and increase the contribution of tourism to GDP to 6 per cent over the next two decades.
