Home Industry Construction Nakheel awards Dhs810m marine works contract for Palm Jebel Ali The winner of the contract, Jan De Nul Dredging, is expected to complete the entire scope of marine works at the landmark development in just over two years by Neesha Salian August 27, 2024 Image: Supplied Nakheel has awarded a contract worth Dhs810m ($220m) to Jan De Nul Dredging for marine works on the Palm Jebel Ali development. The contract includes dredging, land reclamation, beach profiling and sand placement, with completion expected in just over two years. Mobilisation activities have already begun, with the first eight fronds of the project anticipated to be site-ready by Q1 2025. This will allow for the commencement of villa infrastructure and civil works. The development is a key part of Nakheel‘s broader plans to enhance the Dubai coastline, in line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. The project also supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and marks the beginning of a new growth corridor in the Jebel Ali area. Nakheel awards other infrastructure contracts Nakheel has recently awarded two major infrastructure contracts, including the construction of a new public access road from Sheikh Zayed Road and roadway and lighting enhancements from the mainland to Palm Jebel Ali. Khalid Al Malik, CEO of Dubai Holding Real Estate, stated, “Partnering with Jan De Nul Dredging reflects our commitment to excellence and innovation. “Palm Jebel Ali is set to become a global destination offering a luxurious waterfront lifestyle while setting new standards in quality living and sustainability.” Palm Jebel Ali, spanning 13.4 kilometres with 91 kilometres of beachfront, is designed to be a major residential and leisure destination, with 700 Phase 1 frond villas already launched last year. The project is scheduled for handover in late 2026.
