Dense fog enveloped the UAE on Thursday morning, with visibility dropping less than 200 metres, according to the weather department.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported foggy and misty conditions across the coastal and internal areas.

Motorists were urged to be careful on the roads, and police officials specifically warned against taking any mobile phone videos of the weather when driving.

The weather will remain partly cloudy and hazy, becoming cloudy over the sea, islands and western areas by night, the NCM said in its daily weather bulletin.

It also forecast the probability of some light rainfall.

Temperatures will tend to rise and will vary between 14 degrees celsius to 30 degrees in the coastal areas, 14 degrees and 32 degrees in the internal areas and touch lows of 7 degrees in the mountains, with highs reaching 23 degrees.

The weather will remain hazy and cloudy with a chance of rainfall with different intensities over scattered areas on Friday, the NCM said.

Temperatures will also decrease over some areas.

Strong winds, reaching speeds of up to 55km/hr will cause blowing dust and sand with poor visibility, its forecast added.

Saturday will also remain cloudy with strong winds, the NCM predicted.
