Wale To Succeed Vos As Starwood President EMEA

Michael Wale will succeed Roeland Vos as president of Starwood’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region from June 1.

Wale is a 35-year Starwood veteran who most recently served as senior vice president and director of Operations for Western Europe, while Vos will transition into a consulting role with the company.

Frits van Paasschen, president and CEO of Starwood, said during Vos’ 12-year tenure it has nearly doubled its hotel footprint in the region to 243 hotels, and accelerated its business in fast-growing markets.

He added Wale’s combination of strategic vision, management experience, relationships with associates and customers, and a global sensibility makes him “perfectly positioned” to oversee Starwood’s continued growth.
