Home Lifestyle Auto Mercedes-Benz teams up with designer Virgil Abloh to create one-off G-Class SUV The unique artwork will be digitally revealed on September 8 by Varun Godinho July 28, 2020 Louis Vuitton’s menswear artistic director Virgil Abloh will team up with Gorden Wagener, the chief design officer for the Daimler Group, to create a unique artwork which will be digitally launched on September 8, 2020. The new collaboration, called Project Geländewagen, will result in an artwork created using the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, which made its global debut back in 1979. Mercedes has said that a single home-scale replica of the artwork will be auctioned off after the global launch of the artwork next month, with proceeds from the auction donated to a charity that supports the arts. The winning bidder will also receive exclusive access to the Abloh and Wagener and “a personal introduction to the inspirations behind the artwork and the creative powerhouses’ aspirations for it.” The Mercedes-AMG G63 “Mercedes-Benz today is much more than a luxury carmaker, it is a design brand and luxury label.
