Home Industry Hospitality Marriott’s Autograph Collection to open in AlUla The new hotel is set to open in 2025 and will be located in downtown AlUla by Gulf Business September 13, 2023 (Image: Supplied by Marriott International) Marriott International has signed an agreement with AlUla Development Company to open an Autograph Collection property in Saudi Arabia. The new hotel is set to open in 2025 and will be located in downtown AlUla. Autograph Collection’s global portfolio currently includes more than 290 hotels. The upcoming Autograph Collection will span across 22,635 sqm, and will be situated adjacent to the AlUla Museum and opposite the Farmer’s Market. The hotel will include 250 rooms and suites. Its recreational and entertainment offerings will encompass four dining venues, a spa, a swimming pool, a fitness center, a business center, meeting facilities and retail space too. “Autograph Collection Hotels feature curated properties that celebrate individuality – and AlUla is an ideal fit with its unique sense of place and history. We look forward to offering a distinct perspective on design and hospitality to this thriving area,” said Chadi Hauch, regional vice president, Lodging Development for the Middle East at Marriott International. Naif AlHamdan, managing director of AlUla Development Company – fully owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) – added, “This collaboration aligns with our objective of enhancing the hospitality, tourism and real estate sectors in AlUla. AlUla Development Company is committed to building on AlUla’s extraordinary heritage, history and natural beauty through sustainable development and will contribute to the economic diversification and tourism goals of the kingdom, in line with PIF’s strategy and Vision 2030.” Hotel developments in AlUla Several other major hospitality companies have also recently unveiled plans to open in AlUla. The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) will develop a new eco-luxury resort that will be operated by Mexican luxury brand AZULIK and designed by Roth Architecture. The AZULIK AlUla Resort will be located within the Nabatean Horizon District of AlUla’s Journey Through Time masterplan and is slated to open in 2027. Also, a new Chedi property will be established within the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hegra in AlUla. The boutique hotel will feature only 35 guest rooms and is expected to open to guests by Q4 2023. The hotel is being built directly into several existing structures including an old railway station as well as the Hegra Fort, among other structures.
