Tamweel Building, JLT – November 18, 2012 A major fire charred a large part of the 34-storey Tamweel Tower in the Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) area of Dubai. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the blaze, which reportedly started at the roof of the building. So far there have been no reports of deaths or injuries. 2. Jebel Ali Warehouses – November 18, 2012 Six warehouses in Jebel Ali were gutted by a fire that reportedly started in a furniture warehouse. People were evacuated from nearby buildings and the fire was put out after around two hours, reported Khaleej Times. So far there have been no reports of deaths or injuries. 3. Tecom building – October 6, 2012 The 13-storey Saif Belhasa Building, a residential tower in Tecom, was badly damaged after a fire broke out on the fourth floor. Two people were reportedly killed in the blaze, which also completely destroyed nine flats. The cause of the accident is still unknown. 4. Ras Al Khor Perfume factory- August 22, 2012 A major perfume factory in Ras Al Khor, Chemcrown International, was completely destroyed by a fire that raged on for nearly 10 hours. Three neighbouring warehouses were also burnt down in the accident. No-one was injured. 5. Dubai Mall – August 21, 2012 Thousands of shoppers were forced to evacuate the Dubai Mall after a fire broke out in one of the restaurants. While the first and second levels of the mall were blanketed by smoke, the blaze was quickly contained and no-one was hurt in the accident. 6. Al Quoz – August 15, 2012 A warehouse belonging to the Shaklan Group in Al Quoz 4 was gutted in a fire, which also destroyed a massive stock of supplies including food, clothes and electronics. All the workers who were present in the warehouse were evacuated in time, and no-one was injured. 7. Dubai Marina – June 8, 2012 Residents of the 76-storey Sulafa Tower in Dubai Marina were forced to evacuate the building after a fire broke out on the 36th floor early in the morning. No-one was injured in the accident. 8. Jebel Ali – June 8, 2012 A major fire broke out in a warehouse in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone – a second fire on the same day. According to reports, the fire started in garbage and then moved to a storage area. 9. Al Quoz Paint Factory- February 27, 2012 A fire broke out in a paint and thinner factory in the Quoz Industrial Area in Dubai. Officials managed to control the blaze after two hours, and no injuries were reported. 0 Comments
