SAUDI ARABIA’S FIRST female editor-in-chief took the reigns of daily Saudi Gazette in February 2014, in what was described as a historic move. “There’s a crack that has been made in the glass ceiling. And I’m hoping it will be made into a door,” Jabarti told Al Arabiya News. She now hopes her promotion will mean other Saudi women in the media take more important positions. Jabarti was previously, with her stint at Arab News, the first Saudi woman to become managing editor and deputy editor at a Saudi daily publication.
