FOLLOWING NEARLY THREE decades at DUBAL, Kalban was appointed CEO and MD of the newly formed Emirates Global Aluminium last year, combining Dubai’s smelter at Jebel Ali with EMAL in Abu Dhabi. He now leads the world’s fifth largest aluminium producer, with upstream investments in bauxite and alumina refining in Brazil, Cameroon and Guinea, while also holding key positions as chairman of the Gulf Aluminium Council and director of the International Aluminium Institute. Outside of the metals industry, Kalban serves on the board of DIFC, the Federal Electricity & Water Authority and he is a member of the UAE’s Supreme Council of Energy and Dubai Executive Council Committee for Infrastructure & Environment.
