Jafar leads family business group Crescent Enterprises as CEO, as
well as being president of Crescent Petroleum, chairman of Pearl Petroleum, and chairman of the executive board of Gulftainer, among others. His reputation in the business world grows stronger each year, not least because of his support of start-ups and SMEs. Putting his money where his mouth is, he launched Crescent Enterprise’s venture capital arm last year with plans to invest $150m in start-ups around the world. Of the fund, Jafar said that the private sector must drive the next wave of innovation and growth and also address the region’s biggest challenges.
