Alshaya continued to make his mark on the region’s retail landscape in 2015, signing a deal to open 30 retail stores and restaurants in the upcoming Mall of Qatar development in October. In February 2015, the company also signed an agreement to further develop its retail academy in Saudi Arabia with Princess Nora Bint Abdul Rahman University in Riyadh – with the aim of increasing the number of women in the sector. The retailer commands over 70 international brands in the Middle East and beyond including Starbucks, H&M, Debenhams and Victoria’s Secret with more than 2,800 stores.
