Kuwait has a new PM: Sheikh Mohammed Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah
Sheikh Mohammed Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah has been appointed as Kuwait’s new prime minister, the country’s state news agency reported

Kuwait Emir Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Sabah on Thursday appointed Sheikh Mohammed Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah as the country’s prime minister, the country’s state news agency reported.
Up until now, Sheikh Mohammed Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah has been the Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait. Sheikh Mohammed Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah is well known as a politician, economist, and diplomat.
Born on 10 October 1955, Al-Sabah is also the son of Sheikh Sabah III Al-Salim Al-Sabah, the former Emir of Kuwait.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Claremont Graduate University as well as a PhD in economics from Harvard. He previously served as Kuwait’s ambassador to the US in 1993.
His appointment comes after the passing of Emir Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Shortly afterwards, Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was announced as the Emir of the State of Kuwait.
