The suspension will remain until further notice when the weather conditions improve, a spokesman said.

A dust storm has disrupted oil exports from Kuwait forcing it to halt both its crude and oil products exports on Thursday, a spokesman for state-run Kuwait National Petroleum Co (KNPC) told Reuters.

Export operations in Saudi Arabia were not affected by similar weather conditions. At the top oil exporter’s main crude export terminal in Ras Tanura, export flow was uninterrupted, shipping sources said.

The suspension in Kuwait will remain until weather conditions improve, KNPC spokesman Khalid al-Asousi said.

Kuwait produces around 3 million barrels of crude per day. The Gulf OPEC member has three refineries, Shuaiba, Mina Abdullah and Mina al-Ahmadi, with a total refining capacity of around 930,000 bpd.

Bad weather and sandstorms in the Gulf occasionally cause brief interruptions in oil exports.
