Home Industry Hospitality Kerzner takes over management of Dubai’s Bab Al Shams resort Kerzner has assumed management of luxury desert resort Bab Al Shams under Rare Finds, a new vertical that will manage a collection of diverse and unique resorts by Gulf Business April 25, 2022 Kerzner International Holdings, the owner of the Atlantis Resorts and Residences and One&Only Resorts worldwide, has announced the launch of a new vertical called Rare Finds, which will comprise a diverse collection of unique resorts that celebrate a destination and its authentic local culture. Under this new vertical, Kerzner has assumed management of Bab Al Shams resort, which is owned by Meydan. “Bab Al Shams is the original immersive desert experience in Dubai, having first opened its doors in 2004,” says Issam Galadari, CEO of Meydan City Corporation. “We are looking forward to working closely with the Kerzner team to bring their exceptional service standards and renowned expertise to invigorate and breathe new life into this resort, that holds a special place in the hearts of UAE residents and visitors alike.” “I am excited to welcome Bab Al Shams Desert Resort to the newly-introduced Rare Finds collection. We are thrilled to continue to be part of the future of Dubai, and we look forward to welcoming guests to discover this new, evolved idyllic retreat.” General manager Gilles Sohier will join the legacy resort from his most recent post as resort manager at One&Only Royal Mirage in Dubai. The resort will close for an extensive refurbishment between May and early 2023, reopening as part of Rare Finds. The extensive “reimagination” of the desert resort will introduce a completely renewed aesthetic whilst maintaining the resort’s equestrian identity. The resort will offer expertly curated itineraries and bespoke outdoor activities, tailored to each individual guest. These will include desert equestrian sports, stargazing with in-house astronomers, sandboarding amongst the dunes, archery, desert safaris, fireside storytelling, hot air balloon rides and others. The family-friendly resort will have numerous break out spaces and activities, including a game room and family entertainment venue offering a multi-generational resort experience. Bab Al Shams will also provide an exclusive setting for weddings, events and celebrations, for corporate meetings and incentive retreats with indoor and outdoor event spaces that can host up to 500 guests. Kerzner will also continue to strategically grow the Rare Finds Portfolio, carefully curating a selection of more unique properties in the future.
