Kenya Airways To Fly Dubai-Hong Kong

New route provides some competition for Emirates and follows recent codeshare agreement with Etihad

Kenya Airways will start direct flights between Dubai and Hong Kong from April 2.

Services will operate three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) on Boeing B767-300 aircraft. Flights will depart Dubai at 0600 and arrive Hong Kong 1810, while return flights depart 2120 and arrive in Dubai 0130 (next day).

Kenya Airways’ CEO and group managing director, Titus Naikuni, said it will improve connectivity between Africa and Asia.

The airline will go head-to-head with Emirates on the route, and follows the recent codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways (click here) – although Hong Kong is not included in that deal. Kenya Airways’ partners in the SkyTeam Alliance, which includes Saudia, will also benefit from the news.

Online return fares in Business Premier World between Dubai and Hong Kong, for travel in April, are currently priced Dhs6,430 – which are comparable to those with Emirates, currently priced in the region of Dhs6,650-7,790 – although Emirates’ schedules are significantly more flexible for business travellers as they operate double daily services.

The African carrier has built up a strong network on the continent over 36 years, via its Nairobi hub, where it operates Embraer E190 aircraft on domestic routes.
