Kempinski opens latest hotel in Muscat

The hotel is located in the Al Mouj area of the city

European hotel group Kempinski has announced the opening of its latest property in the Omani capital Muscat.

Kempinski Hotel Muscat in the Al Mouj community features 310 rooms and suites, meeting facilities, a ballroom, 10 bars and restaurants, a gym and spa and an infinity pool.

The company said it features a modern interpretation of the country’s style, designed by Woods Bagot, with a lobby inspired by the ceremonial palace of Sultan Qaboos and access to 6km of coastline.

“The opening in Muscat is part of the overall Middle Eastern growth strategy of Kempinski Hotels of luxurious properties in key destinations including full service resort and leisure destinations,” said Kempinski chief operating officer for Middle East and Africa Henk Meyknecht.

“As a European hotel operator we look forward to contributing to the growing success of the tourism sector in Muscat catering to a growing global audience of discerning travellers.”

Dining options at the new property include international cuisine at The Kitchen Restaurant, Northern Indian cuisine at Bukhara Restaurant, Thai street food at Soi Soi, Indian teas at Boulevard Tea House and lighter options at the Pool Bar, Café One and the Amwaj Lounge.

There is also cigar lounge 1897, beach club and lounge Zale and bowling and entertainment centre Cosmic Bowling.

Kempinski said the ballroom can also accommodate 700 guests.

The wider Al Mouj community includes retail and dining facilities, a 400-boat marina and an 18-hole golf course.
