India announces additional repatriation flights from UAE

From August 1-29, Air India will repatriate Indian citizens on 22 flights from Sharjah and Abu Dhabi airports

India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued a full list of repatriation flights for the month of August for those wishing to return home.

From August 1-29, Air India will fly Indians on 22 flights from Sharjah and Abu Dhabi airports to multiple airports in the Asian country.

Another 23 flights will be flown by Air India throughout August to repatriate Indian citizens from Bahrain, Doha and Muscat airports.

Domestic flights announced as part of the repatriation schedule will not accommodate domestic passengers as they are meant for international passengers to be connected to destinations within India.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation also released a partial list of “Vande Bharat” Phase V flights by low cost carrier, Air India Express for August 1-15. These include four daily flights from Dubai during August 1-5, and another 37 flights during August 6-15.

The low cost airline will also operate 79 outbound flights for India from Abu Dhabi and Sharjah during the 15-day window, WAM reported.

Dubai carrier Emirates has also arranged special repatriation flights to Bengaluru, Delhi, Kochi, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram in India between July 12-26 to assist stranded Indians get home and enable UAE residents currently in India to return.

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways also operated a series of special flights from UAE to six Indian cities from July 15-26, namely Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kochi.
