Dubai-based carrier Emirates has opened a new lounge for young flyers travelling as unaccompanied minors.

Young passengers flying Emirates can now wait in the dedicated lounge at Dubai International Airport, located next to the carrier’s First Class Lounge in Concourse B.

The upgraded lounge is open 24/7, and offers video games, drinks and snacks, seating areas, free wi-fi and washrooms designed for kids, a statement said.

After check-in, an airport services team member will escort the children through immigration and security to their dedicated departure lounge, and subsequently to the boarding gate.

Young flyers will receive priority boarding, while the cabin crew will guide them to their seats and help them settle in, the statement added.

Onboard, they can enjoy meals and snacks, as well as toys and activity packs, and kid-sized headsets. All toys use recycled material and bags are made from 100 per cent recycled plastic bottles.

Children with a connecting flight in Dubai will be escorted by the ground services team from their flight to one of the dedicated lounges, while they wait for their next flight.

Emirates’ services for unaccompanied minors must be booked in advance of travel. The service is available for children aged 5-11 years who are travelling without an adult, as well as for young flyers between 12 and 15 years.
