Home Covid-19 Imdaad launches ‘disinfection tunnels’ in the UAE The tunnels can be used in malls, hospitals, construction sites, labour accommodations and even residential areas by Varun Godinho April 13, 2020 Dubai-based integrated facilities management company Imdaad announced the launch of its new disinfection tunnel, ViroSheild by Vision Safety, on Monday. Imdaad said that the fully automatic tunnel, equipped with motion sensors, sprays users with a mist that disinfects clothes as they walk through it, reported official news agency WAM. The tunnels can be used in malls, hospitals, construction sites, labour accommodations and even residential areas, among other places, it added. Imdaad clarified that there were two variants of the tunnel. The first was one with high pressure meant for industrial fogging. The second tunnel, a low pressure unit, is designed to meet the needs of communities. The company is also reportedly making tunnel models for trucks and cars, which can be fixed on passenger routes in airports. Besides, the model can also be installed inside airplanes following the requirements of airline operators and civil aviation authorities. “The development of our ViroSheild by Vision Safety disinfection tunnel represents our unremitting commitment to contributing to the UAE government’s efforts to create a clean, healthy and sustainable urban environment in the country. We are confident that the new solution will help address the disinfection and sanitisation requirements of businesses and the people of this nation,” said Jamal Abdulla Lootah, group CEO of Imdaad. According to its website, the company manages 800,000 tons of waste per annum and has over 7,000 employees.
