The initiative is a collaborative effort between MoIAT and the airline, unveiled during this year’s ‘Make it in the Emirates Forum’ in May. ICV-certified companies will gain access to Etihad Airways‘ extensive network of services covering Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Australia, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent and Africa. The access will allow ICV-certified companies to expand their local products to new global markets through passenger and cargo flights. Furthermore, during a two-month period starting from August 1 until the end of September, ICV-certified companies will have the opportunity to earn miles for flights taken on board. MoIAT intends to broaden the National ICV programme by including new sectors, aligning with the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology, which aims to enhance the reputation and competitiveness of UAE products in global markets and foster an attractive investment environment that strengthens local supply chains. Currently, the programme encompasses 28 federal and local government entities, as well as corporations. Etihad Airways joined the National ICV programme in 2021 and has since prioritised local suppliers and companies. The introduction of these new rates complements the airline’s commitment to empowering national companies as outlined in its agreement with the ministry.
