Home Industry Technology Hands-on review: Reno7 5G The Reno7 5G is now available across GCC for Dhs1799 by Divsha Bhat April 25, 2022 Last month, OPPO released the new Reno7 series with exciting new features like a portrait mode that gives you DSLR-level images and a fun 3D-animated emojis too. We got the Reno7 5G for a hands-on review and here’s what it looks like. What’s in the box? Clear case Reno7 5G 65W charger – Type USB-C We received the Reno7 5G in Starry Black colour. According to OPPO, Starry Black offers the perfect balance between a classic black finish and the transformative, glittering finish of OPPO Glow. The laser direct imaging (LDI) has also been brought to the exterior design of a smartphone for the first time. So the first impression in terms of design is the sleek feel. Weighing just about 178g and about 7.81mm thick, Reno7 5G is slim and light and makes way for a comfortable grip. It also features a 6.4 inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Powered by MediaTek Dimensity, Reno7 5G includes support for 5G and Wi-Fi 6, ensuring faster connectivity. It also comes with a large 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM configuration as standard. The phone is further equipped with OPPO’s self-developed RAM Expansion technology, meaning that if the phone runs out of usable RAM space, you can choose to convert part of available ROM to virtual RAM by enabling the function. Now, even with multiple apps running or action-packed games demanding your attention, Reno7 5G will keep them running nice and smoothly. As for the battery life, the smartphone is equipped with a large 4,500mAh battery. Together with 65W SuperVOOC , the phone can be charged to 100 per cent in about 31 minutes; and just five minutes of charging will give you enough battery for two hours of gaming. Furthermore, it’s power saving mode and night-time standby helps maximise the last bit of battery when you need it the most. Camera capabilities Claimed to be a portrait expert, OPPO’s Reno7 5G is embedded with AI-enabled imaging features, allowing you to record professional photo and video content. The portrait mode on Reno7 5G gives you DSLR-like bokeh lights and unparalleled control over the depth of field and background bokeh lights in your portrait images. Furthermore, the characteristics that makes DSLR cameras so popular for shooting video is the bokeh effect created when lights are caught out of focus in the background. With the updated Bokeh Flare Portrait Video on Reno7 5G, you can have DSLR-like, portrait effects on smartphone. To make it even interesting, OPPO has introduced the Omoji feature. It is a 3D animated emoji feature that is being introduced for the first time on ColorOS 12. Boosted by OPPO’s Face Capture algorithm, Omoji lets you express your own unique style through your personalised emoji avatar. With more than 200 cool accessories and expressions available for customisation, you can create your own Omoji that looks just like you. Meanwhile, the phone also features a quick startup. For enjoyable gaming experience, Quick startup identifies your most frequently played and favourite games, keeping them active in the background after you exit them so you can jump straight back into the game home page with just one click. All in all, we believe it’s a great phone for people looking at a device that has reliable performance stats, AI-powered camera capabilities and a strong gaming experience.
