Habtoor Leighton Group Wins $395m Contract

Dubai International Real Estate (DIRE) has awarded a $395 million contract to the Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) to build the next phase of its $816 million  Jewel Of The Creek Development in Port Saeed in Dubai.

The project,which measures 123,955 square metres, will include serviced apartment buildings, nine hotels and a marina.

HLG started work on the scheme in 2012 when it was responsible for the construction of the substructure works for four basement levels and ground floor slabs on the waterside site between Al Maktoum Bridge, Baniyas Road and the Floating Bridge.

“The contract with DIRE is of great significance to HLG,” said Jose Antonio Lopez-Monis, the chief executive and managing director of HLG.

“We are pleased to have been selected as DIRE’s contractor of choice, and are proud to continue our partnership with DIRE on this landmark project,” he added.

HLG’s scope of works involves the construction and completion of five hospitality buildings ranging between 15 and 19 floors, featuring a hotel and serviced apartments; a ballroom, with an attached café; a marina, including four foot bridges and one vehicular bridge; and hard and soft landscaping works.

Khalil Al Sayegh of DIRE stated that this contract award is a major milestone for the company.

Construction works  are scheduled to start in Q3, 2014 and will be completed in Q3, 2017.
