GCC Covid-19 update: UAE reports 698 cases, Saudi registers 2,039 infections

The death toll in the UAE and Saudi Arabia has risen to 208 and 283 respectively

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention has announced 698 new Covid-19 cases as well as 407 additional recoveries on May 14.

The new cases came through post extensive screening, entailing over 37,000 tests to detect the virus.

The ministry also confirmed that two individuals of different nationalities succumbed to the virus, raising the death toll to 208.

The tally of infections across the UAE now stands at 21,084 cases.

As many as 6,930 have been cured of the virus, having receiving the necessary medical treatment.

Saudi Arabia
The Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia has reported 2,039 cases, its highest ever daily count of infections.

The city of Jeddah reported 482 cases, followed by Riyadh (478) and Makkah (356).

Since the outbreak, the kingdom has reported a total of 46,869 infections.

An additional 10 people have also died due to the virus, raising the death toll to 283.

 

Oman
The Ministry of Health announced 322 new cases of the Covid-19 virus, including 80 Omanis and 242 expatriates. The total number of cases registered in the sultanate now tally 4,341.

 

Bahrain
As of May 13, 9pm local time, Bahrain reported a total of 3,601 active Covid-19 cases, of whom six are reported to be in a critical condition.

As many as 10 people have succumbed to the virus thus far.

Kuwait
On May 14, the Ministry of Health reported a total of 947 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours as well as six deaths, Kuwait News Agency reported.

The death toll has now risen to 88 while the total number of infections tallies 11,975.
